Things You'll Need:
- Three ring binder
- Tabs
- Three hole punch
- Blank pages
- Printer
- Scissors
- Dedication!
-
Step 1
Get yourself a good 3-ring binder, at least a 1 1/2 inch style. You can probably find one that matches your color scheme or has a wedding theme. But sometimes plain is best - that way no ones that you're planning your dream wedding when you should be doing other things (like working). This is where you'll keep information on everything from wedding insurance to ideas for cheap wedding favors.
-
Step 2
Add tabs to your binder. These can be purchased and customized. You can also use the tabbed part of a manila folder and 3-hole punch it. Suggested tabs are: Contact List, Wedding Venue, Wedding Reception Venue, Wedding Invitations, Rehearsal Dinner, Wedding Dress, Bridesmaid Dresses, Grooms Attire, Food & Beverage, Cakes, Ceremony, Reception Music, Transportation, Decor, Flowers, Wedding Night Hotel, Honeymoon, Budget, Bridal Registry and Thank You Notes.
This list might not be long enough for your wedding or you may need fewer tabs - it all depends on your individual needs. You just need to be sure that every element of your wedding has a spot where you can keep information. -
Step 3
Most girls start thinking about their wedding at about age 12. We all have the fantasy wedding planned in our heads. Now that you're grown up - start saving some of those fantasy ideas. Browse through wedding magazines or web sites, clip images or ideas that you like and keep in your "Wedding Bible". This way you can evaluate components and how they may fit together more easily. Scour bridal magazines for ideas on things like wedding videographers, bridal bouquets and overall wedding themes.
-
Step 4
This is also an excellent way to keep track of correspondence. Most people keep electronic records but it's always good to have a hard copy. This way you can take your "Wedding Planner" with you when you meet with vendors and discuss final details. You can easily review what had been discussed prior to ensure that you're getting exactly what you want.
-
Step 5
Don't forget, this is your "Wedding Planner". Entrust with someone the day wedding just in case any issues arise. One of the first tabs should be Contact List with phone numbers for all vendors, including cell phones so they can be reached the day of the wedding. Just be sure it doesn't get lost in the excitement of the day, you'll want to follow up on invoices and thank you notes. Also, you'll love this unique keepsake of one of the most important events of your life!
