Explains the steps to paint walls in the room(s) in your house.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The room(s) in your house need to be prepared before painting. Here are the steps you should do before any kind of painting, you should clear the room of any furniture, so you do not get any paint on anything and so you have more room to work.

  2. Step 2

The tools you will need are a paint brush, paint roller, paint tray, paint, rollers to apply the paint, small bucket so you won't have to keep carrying the gallon of paint around, step ladder for higher areas, longer handle to screw onto the paint roller handle, to reach the higher areas on the walls and if you are painting the ceiling.

  3. Step 3

The first step before painting is to scuff sand, as in lightly and quickly sand the walls, window trim and other surfaces you are going to paint. The reason why you scuff sand is so the paint will stick to the surface. You should also have something on the floor to protect the floor from paint drips. Usually a clear plastic tarp, you can get at any hardware store or department store in the hardware section

  4. Step 4

Before you paint open up the gallon of paint with a flat head screw driver or the lid opening tool. Here is how you open the lid, if you do not know how. Take the screwdriver or tool. there is a groove on the lid. Put the srewdriver or the tool in there and pry up the lid going all around until completely opened. Put the lid and gallon of paint on the plastic tarp away from where you are working to prevent knocking over the gallon of paint.

  5. Step 5

Pour some of the paint you are going to use in the small bucket, the bucket will be easier to carry than the gallon. You are going to paint all the corners and edges from wall to wall first with the paint brush. You might need the ladder to reach the higher areas.

  6. Step 6

When done with corner painting, the next step is to paint the walls. You get the paint tray pour some paint in it until half full. Get the roller, the roller handle and extension handle to screw onto the handle with the roller on it. If you can understand all that then proceed to painting. Roll the roller in the paint and start rolling the paint on the wall(s) going up and down with the roller on the wall and keep on moving over with the roller on the wall to paint another area.

  7. Step 7

If you see any drip marks, smudges or streaks of paint roll over them with the roller to even them out. When painting the wall and no more paint is going on the wall, its time to go back to the paint tray and apply more paint to the roller. Then go back to the wall and paint some more. You are going to have to keep repeating this step until all the walls are painted.
