How to Make Potpourri Wedding Favors
Simple potpourri favors, created by gluing potpourri to a small piece of Styrofoam, are an inexpensive favor for a wedding or other party. These need to be made in advance and they need to set for about 12 hours to allow the glue to dry, so have a drying location in mind when you make them.
Things You'll Need
- Block of Styrofoam
- Knife
- Assorted potpourri
- Coffee grinder
- Bowls
- Wax paper
- Toothpicks
- White glue
- Ribbons
- Scissors
Instructions
-
-
1
Use a knife to cut Styrofoam into desired sizes.
-
2
Pour a small amount of potpourri into your coffee grinder. Hold down power button for no more than two seconds. If you grind the potpourri any longer, it will be too fine for this project. Place ground potpourri in a bowl. Continue until you have at least 3/4 cup to work with.
-
-
3
Tear a sheet of wax paper and place on work surface. Pour a small amount of ground potpourri onto the wax paper.
-
4
Insert four toothpicks into the bottom of the Styrofoam block. These will serve as handles while you make the potpourri wedding favors.
-
5
Apply white glue to one side of the block.
-
6
Hold by the toothpicks and press the sticky surface into the ground potpourri. Raise the block and press again if needed.
-
7
Continue applying the potpourri in this manner to all sides. Lastly, apply the ground potpourri to the top of the block, leaving bottom with toothpicks bare.
-
8
Set each favor aside and let dry overnight. The toothpicks will function as legs.
-
9
Tie color-coordinated ribbons around each favor as if you were wrapping a gift. Place finished potpourri wedding favors in center of each place setting.

Tips & Warnings
It's a good idea to choose a work area where the favors can sit overnight undisturbed to dry, so take this into account before beginning.
Once you've used the coffee grinder for your potpourri, this will become a part of your craft tools. Purchase a new grinder for kitchen use only.
