Instructions

    • 1

Create background pages. Select two of the three colors (for example, chocolate and blue) and cut enough 6 x 6 squares so that you have about 1/4 of the birthday milestone number. Using a 40th milestone birthday as an example, cut 10 pieces of paper, five in one color and five in the other color.

    • 2

Using the third color of paper (tan, for example), cut 20 pieces (size 5.5 x 5.5) and adhere them with glue dots to each side of the background pages from Step 1.

    • 3

Write or type on the white cardstock fun or special facts about the person who will be receiving the milestone scrapbook -- number them for an added touch. In the example, you would write 40 things, starting with the birthday person's birth and carrying through to the present.

    • 4

Print black and white photos that represent some of the facts and memories from Step 3. Don't print too many pictures; keep it to about half or less of the milestone birthday number. In the example scrapbook, there would be 20 photos.

    • 5

Each page will have this layout: a piece or two of white cardstock with one or more facts, one or two photos, and a piece of the coordinating patterned scrapbooking paper. How you cut and arrange the elements is up to your creativity.

    • 6

Decorate the cover. Using the same coordinating paper colors, get creative with the cover. Give it a name: "40 Fun Facts and Things We Love About You."

Tips & Warnings

  • Incorporate memories that are factual (where the person were born, etc.), fun (funny things they may have done) and heartwarming.

  • Ask other people to give you ideas: the birthday person's parents, siblings, children and spouse, as well as friends and co-workers.
