We hate to think that a car accident can happen to us, but in such an unfortunate event, a legal representative may be required. Here are some pointers on how to find a good car accident lawyer.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First, assemble photos and paperwork that can help present your case. These can include any photos taken of the accident scene, a written description from you about what took place, and any letters or medical certificates from a doctor or hospital that may have examined you after the accident.

  2. Step 2

Be prepared with a list of questions to ask the lawyer, such as whether your case, as described, may have legal merit for an insurance claim, whether the lawyer has handled cases similar to yours and how successful those cases have been, and should he represent you in a car accident claim, what strategy he may apply.

  3. Step 3

Also be prepared to discuss your personal circumstances with the lawyer, such as the type of work you do, your family responsibilities, your hobbies, and how the car accident has affected your life.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may wish to interview two or three lawyers and also have them interview you in order to find a good fit for both sides.
  • Be aware that should you decide to file a car accident insurance claim, it may take months, even years to settle and you should be prepared to cooperate with your car accident lawyer as well as letting your lawyer know what you may expect from him.
