The article will explain how to play an A chord on the guitar.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Guitar
  1. Step 1

Position the guitar in your lap so that it is comfortable and so you have easy access and view of all the frets. Finding the style and position that is right for you is very important as you learn to play guitar.

  2. Step 2

Hold down the second fret on the D,G and B strings. Make sure you hold down the strings very tightly, if you don't do this it could result in unwanted rattling or unwanted sounds. Remember that if you are just learning to play the guitar the skin on the ends of your fingers will be a bit sensitive, but hang in there it gets much better with time!

  3. Step 3

Strum the bottom five strings. Avoid hitting the low E string, the low E sound may be desired in some cases, but to get a pure crisp A chord strum only the bottom five strings!
