Treat And Prevent Chapped Lips
Treat And Prevent Chapped Lips

Severe chapped lips can be painful.

When the air around you is dry it causes your lips to chap. Some people suffers with severe chapped lips due to the lips' skin losing its moisture. Dry cracked or sore lips can interfere with many of our daily activities.
Especially kissing and eating.

Dryness is not the only cause of chapped lips, to much wind, sun and coldness can make them chapped too.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Coconut oil is good for chapped lips you can purchase this at the health food store, it is a little expensive.
You can find an inexpensive brand of pure coconut
oil at WalMart in the grocery section.

These oils are also used for skin healing purposes:
    Tea Tree
    Peppermint
    Lavender
    Rose
    Chamomile
    Lemon
    Lime
    Grapefruit

  2. Step 2

Lip balm is used to heal or to prevent dryness, apply it to your lips before going out in the cold or dry weather.
Burt Bee's make a great lip balm.
Use a lip cream or balm to protect your lips from the harmful rays of the sun.

  3. Step 3

One of the best ways I have found and love is to pour a little olive oil in a bowl or container add a little granulated sugar to it and use a cotton pad and gently rub it on the lips. It does wonders for my chapped lips.

  4. Step 4

Another thing you can use is cocoa butter. It is good for chapped and dry skin and it smells good too. You can use this for more than chapped lips. Use it on other parts of the body that are dry, elbow, knees, hands, etc.

  5. Step 5

    To prevent chapped lips:

Use a humidifier or place a pot of water on a radiator
to add moisture to the air in the room.

Don't Smoke . smoking evaporates the natural oils on the lips.

Drink plenty of water, dehydration causes your lips to chap.

Do not lick your lips, saliva evaporates quickly leaving lips
drier than before you licked them.

  6. Step 6

I use Carmex, it is a tropical lip balm and it is good for chapped lips.

  7. Step 7

If your lips are chapped too severe for you to treat yourself
consult your doctor. Persistent chapped lips may indicate
a medical problem such as vitamin deficiency, fungal infection
    or an allergic reaction.
