This is a great chocolate frosting. Smooth and rich!
I was always afraid of making ganache. Just the word itself made me think of serious French pastry chefs! But, guess what - it is easy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 8 oz. ghirardelli chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  1. Step 1

Place the ghirardelli chocolate pieces into a heat proof bowl. I use my Pyrex 1 qt. glass measuring cup. You need a heat proof bowl because you are going to pour boiling cream over the chocolate pieces.

  2. Step 2

Put the butter and cream into a saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat be sure to stir while heating so the cream will not burn on.

  3. Step 3

Pour the boiling cream over the chocolate pieces. Let stand for about 5 minutes. Gently stir until smooth. Let rest another 5 minutes. Stir, it should now be ready to pour over your cake. You can let it rest longer if you want a thicker frosting, one that will be spreadable. It is yummy!

Tips & Warnings
  • This frosting goes great on a yellow cake. However, if you really need a chocolate fix put it on a rich chocolate cake.
  • May become addicting!
