With new green businesses opening all the time, it's easier than ever to find a green business near you. In fact, that's one way to shop green - stay near home! For more tips and tricks to finding a green business, keep reading.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Notice ads for green businesses. Hey, going green makes good business sense, and after making that commitment most businesses shout it loud and proud. This is certainly the easiest way to find a green business - they tell you where to find them!

  2. Step 2

If your favorite store isn't blowing their own green horn, ask them what green practices they use. You may find that your favorite shop is doing more for the environment than you know. Or, you may find that they're doing more damage than good, in which case you can shop around for a greener shop. The more we demand green business practices, the more businesses will go green.

  3. Step 3

As mentioned above, you can find a green business by staying close to home. Supporting local businesses is great for the economy and the environment. Besides, in the food industry, it also tastes better! So when you have a choice, stay green by staying local.

  4. Step 4

You can locate a green business using specific tools for the job, too. Sites like green-e.org and greenseal.org list green businesses and encourage those businesses to display green logos (see links to their sites in the Resources below). Many communities have local organizations that do the same thing for green businesses in their area, so look for sites that specialize in your community, and get to know their logos.

Tips & Warnings
  • Everything green is a hot topic of conversation, so word of mouth is a great way to find the green business you're looking for - just ask around!
