Repairing a windshield chip can be free with just one phone call. In San Diego call Chips Windshield Repair at 760-519-6000 and support a small local business.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • You need to have qualifying insurance, full coverage.
  1. Step 1

If a rock hits your windshield and puts a small chip in your windshield have it repaired right away. Avoid water and dirt getting inside and it will almost disappear, it should be 80%-90% gone. The area of impact will leave a small mark, like a dried raindrop. If it looks like a star you might see shadows of the lines but they should not spread. If a line has started to crack, most companies will fill them in up to approx 8 inches if it's not on the drivers side.

  2. Step 2

Most Insurance companies waive your deductible to have up to 3 chips fixed at a time, 4 times a year. It's included in your coverage and does NOT raise your rates. This might vary by state. If you really want to pay out of pocket it should only cost around $40.00 - $50.00.

  3. Step 3

Most repair companies will even come to your home or office, it only takes about 20 minutes to repair. And when choosing a company, try to use small business owners, they care more and will most likely give better service.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some companies that offer repairs and replacements might try to talk you into replacing when it's not necessary. They make more money for replacements, because now you have to pay your deductible, so be careful.
