Things You'll Need:
- a gallon of milk
- measuring cup
- freezer space
-
Step 1
Begin by removing the cap from your gallon of milk. While you can freeze milk, you must be aware that you cannot freeze a full gallon of milk.
-
Step 2
Pour out about one cup of milk from the full gallon of milk to allow for expansion. This step is critical in order to freeze milk. You must take about a cup of milk out of the container first, otherwise your container may burst due to lack of room for expansion.
-
Step 3
After removing a cup of milk from your full gallon of milk, replace the cap on the container. You can freeze milk in its original plastic container without the risk of freezer burn as long as you plan on using your frozen milk within about three months.
-
Step 4
Place your carton of milk on a level surface in the freezer. Be sure to allow about an inch on all sides of your carton in case of expansion. Your container most likely won't expand a full inch on all sides, but it's better to be safe than sorry in this case.
