Things You'll Need:
- time
- money
-
Step 1
After you have decided that it is time to propose to that special someone, you need to figure out what type of ring is best (emerald, ascher, princess with a solitaire band, etc). This is something that I will not be able to help you with, you need to research and do this yourself.
-
Step 2
Now, define a set amount of money that you are willing to spend. It can be anywhere from $100.00 to $100,000.00. Just make sure that you have a set limit before starting your search.
-
Step 3
Here comes the fun part. Now you have to go shopping. Check everywhere you can think of that sells engagement rings. Everywhere from Amazon.com to BlueNile.com to retail jewelers. The point here, is to become more educated on the subject while letting people know that you are going to be buying an engagement ring soon. Word of mouth is the best marketing tool!
-
Step 4
Once you have educated yourself on this subject, have a set budget, and have been searching for a ring, sit down and construct a compare and contrast chart. This will help you level your thoughts since this is a big and sentimental purchase.
-
Step 5
Now, narrow your pick down to two(2) or three(3) rings and go and view them. If you feel prepared, purchase the one you think is best.
-
Step 6
We're not finished yet. After you have purchased that perfect engagement ring, make sure you have it appraised by a licensed jeweler. If you play your cards right, chance are, the ring will be worth much more than what you paid.
-
Step 7
Most of all, have fun. This is a process that you will remember for the rest of your life.
