You can go to the USA.gov website and find the SNAP calculator. The calculator will give you an idea of whether you are qualified to receive assistance and how much assistance you can receive.
-
2
If the calculator tells you that you may qualify, you must apply for SNAP at your local office. Most every county in your state will have an office, but some counties will have several offices. You can go to the office and fill out the form, you can have the form mailed to you by calling your local office, you can print the form from your state's website, or you may even be able to apply online from your state's website. Fill out the first page of the application and get it to the office as soon as you can so the process can be expedited. You can fill out the rest of the paperwork and send it in a bit later.

3
You will need to set up an appointment to meet with a SNAP worker. This will require you to bring documentation, so make sure you bring everything requested by the SNAP worker.
-
4
If you are approved, you will receive an EBT card, which is similar to a debit card, for you to go grocery shopping. The EBT card will allow you to purchase foods excluding items such as alcohol, cigarettes, pet food, pre-cooked food, and candy.
If you are not approved, you can ask for a fair hearing to have your situation reevaluated.
