Campfires are a staple at all camping outings. Campfires keeps campers warm during those cold winter nights. Learning how to make a campfire is a tool that will serve you well for years to come. Follow a few tips and you'll be able to make a campfire in no time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • piece of newspaper
  • small pieces of wood
  • water
  • lighter
  1. Step 1

The first thing you must do when making the perfect campfire is to get a piece of newspaper and crumple it into a ball.

  2. Step 2

Now form a teepee with small dried pieces of wood over the paper called kindling wood. The kindling wood is very easily ignited.

  3. Step 3

Light your campfire teepee to get your fire started. Once the kindling is ignited you can start adding bigger pieces of wood to make your fire bigger.

  4. Step 4

Just to be cautious keep a bucket of water near the fire so you can put out the fire. Everyone has their own way to build a campfire, this is just one.

on 8/16/2009 I love camping. I remember about 30 years ago, my hubby and I went camping in the Black Hills South Dakota. The temperature dropped and we were getting cold so we built a camp fire. We had some trouble starting the fire so my hubby use some gasoline. This was a serious mistake as he had slipped on some rocks and caught is foot on fire. Lucky for him, he was not serious injured as I used a blanket to cover his foot and thus put out the flame. We learned our lesson that day and used charcoal instead to start a camp fire.
