Make sure to wear rubber gloves or the fingernail polish remover will burn your fingertips. Then apply the remover to the cotton ball and first test on a small piece of the wood. The fingernail polish remover easily took off the ink, no scrubbing was needed. My daughter's bedroom furniture is painted white pine. In some places it took off a little bit of the paint, but it was hardly noticeable.

I tried many other removers which other people have had success with, so if the fingernail polish remover doesn't work on your particular type of wood, try one of these: rubbing alcohol, magic eraser, baking soda, regular toothpaste (not gel).

After you've finished removing the ink, wipe the wood off using a small bit of soap and water on a washcloth. This will help reduce the smell of remover on the wood.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always wear rubber gloves when using a cleaning agent

  • Open a window or use the remover in a well ventilated room
