Create a Fun Bunco Group
Create a Fun Bunco Group

Would you like to spend more time with your friends and not spend a lot of money? Create a fun Bunco group that meets once a month. Bunco is such a simple game to play that you can easily chat and socialize.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Bunco game set
  • A list of players and subs
  • Mardi Gras bead necklaces
  • three tables each with four chairs
  1. Step 1

So you've decided to improve your social life and expand your circle of friends by starting a fun Bunco group. In order to create your list of 12 permanent players and 4-6 substitute players, ask your family, friends and neighbors if they would like to join the group. Friends, family and neighbors can also recommend other people who might like to play. Once the group is finalized, provide everyone with a list of permanent players and subs with addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.

  2. Step 2
    set your schedule

Next, have the group decide on the game schedule. Pick a night of the week to meet, such as the second Thursday of every month. Decide if you will play all year round or only during certain months. My group only plays October through May.

  3. Step 3
    hosting is easy

Then have Bunco group members sign up for the month that they will be hosting the game. The hostess will be expected to provide snacks and drinks. The Bunco game set gets passed on to the next hostess at the end of the game.

  4. Step 4
    beads for Buncos
    beads for Buncos

In the game of Bunco, you start with the first number on the dice which is "1". The team of two people facing each other at the table try to roll as many "ones" as possible until the game is over. The game is over if a team reaches 21 points or someone rolls a "Bunco", which in this case would be three "ones". Then you move on to rolling for "twos", "threes", "fours" etc. A way to add fun to the game is to have Mardi Gras beads for the players that roll "Buncos". A player gets to wear a necklace for every "Bunco" she rolls during the game.

  5. Step 5
    prizes make it more fun

What is more fun than having prizes? On Bunco night, the twelve players each contribute $5 toward the prize fund. (It works better to put in five $1 bills.) At the end of the night, $15 is awarded to the players with the most "Buncos", the most wins and the most losses. The remaining $15 is held by our treasurer for the entertainment fund. Each September, the twelve permanent players get together and use the entertainment fund to have dinner at a restaurant.
