Use this step by step article to change your privacy settings to ensure your information is viewed by a select few, not the whole planet.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet Connection
  • Access to your Facebook account
  1. Step 1

Login to your Facebook account and hover your mouse over the "Settings" button in the header bar on the right side of the screen. Choose "Privacy Settings."

  2. Step 2

Choose the top option "Profile" and come to the Basic page. Go through this list one by one and consider who you want access to your personal information, your wall posts and much more. Be sure to click "Save Changes" when you're done here.

  3. Step 3

Now toggle over to "Contact Information" and adjust your preferences for your cell phone, your email addresses and your street address.

  4. Step 4

Return to the main Privacy page and look at your settings for the other categories including: Search, News Feed and Wall, and Applications.

Tips & Warnings
  • To change settings for Applications click on "Applications" in the lower left corner of the menu in your Facebook tray. From here you can click "Edit" and adjust the settings for each application you have installed.
  • Guard your private details cautiously in this modern age where identity theft is a serious concern. Other details of your life can also be used against you for employment and social connections so be careful about what information you put on Facebook altogether.
