Step 1
Old belts get new life strapping up rugs or other items for storage. Save them and use them whole for this.
-
Step 2
Look at the material that makes up the belt. Is it leather, vinyl, webbing, or fabric over cardboard? Think of ways to use those. You can reuse a leather or sturdy imitation leather belt in the garage. Remove the buckle. Nail the belt to the wall or workbench, forming loops between each nail. Store tools like hammers or screwdrivers in those loops.
-
Step 3
Cut the buckle off a webbing belt and save the strap. These have varied uses.
-
Step 4
Use the saved webbing to replace the worn out straps on canvas tote bags or some purses. Get some canvas and make your own bag with the webbing used for the carry handles.

on 11/15/2009 The tool storing idea is excellent; thanks for these great ways to reuse old belts. I just finished a chair seat with belts, so this article is right up my alley. Well done!
