Bathing suit shopping is usually not at top of anyone's list of favorite activities. But if you don't want to spend your whole summer on the sidelines, learn how to find the right swimsuit for you. Before shopping, take stock of your figure and plan what you'll be doing while wearing your suit. Sporty activities require different features that lounging poolside.       If you're busty, opt for swimsuits with built-in bras or halter tops to give you support. If your bustline is smaller, go for bandeaus, ruffles and bright colors to give your bust a boost.

      If you have big hips, pick a suit with the dark colors at the hip and bright colors at the top to slim your hips and highlight your face. Make sure the suit has a high leg line, to make your legs look longer. If you want to add curves, opt for suits that have bright colors and details at the waist and hips.

      If you have a tummy, pick a one-piece suit with ruching at the middle to camouflage and create more of a waist. Look for suits with control panels to slim and smooth your middle.

      If you plan to swim laps or do other sporty activities, choose a one-piece swimsuit with minimal embellishment. Highlight or hide your figure using color instead. Bright colors highlight; dark colors hide.

      Make sure the suit fits snugly but comfortably when you first try it on; the material will relax with wear.
