So you have a new cute little kitty, what should you name it? What are some things to consider before you give it a name?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Watch it play, maybe he/she sleeps in a certain way, does it eat finicky or gobble? Should you name it for it‘s breed, or it‘s land of origin? All these can be clues as to good names.

  2. Step 2

What color is your pet? Does it have unusual markings? Maybe it’s a kitten that’s all white except for a huge black spot on top it’s head, a cute name might be Spot, since that's a name that's usually reserved for dogs. Or maybe it’s black with a white streak running between its ears, name it Skunk. Maybe the kitten has four perfect little white “socks” on it’s paws, but instead of calling it “Socks” you call it “K.P.“ which stands for “kitten paws.”

  3. Step 3

A cat that is finicky about eating or one, who has to lick its fur every time you touch it, might be called Prissy. If your kitten is all black except for one white toe, name it “Toe.” These are just a few ideas.

  4. Step 4

Molly, Missy and Lucy seem to be popular names for female cats and Murphy, Bo and Rocky are popular names for male cats. Smokey for a gray cat, Midnight or shadow for a black cat. You can find names for the cats breed also, such as Sam (Siam) or Bali for Siamese or Persian cats.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to choose a name with only one or two syllables so that your cat will become familiar with it easier.
  • Use the name at every opportunity
