Things You'll Need:
- A positive attitude
- Perseverance
-
Step 1
Apply for unemployment insurance in the state that employed you, not in the state where you reside (if they are different, that is). You do this by phone or online (simply do a search on "unemployment insurance" and "(state name)").
-
Step 2
Since you never know where your next job can come from START NETWORKING. LinkedIn is a great networking site where you can create a personal profile and start networking with past colleagues.
-
Step 3
Ask around for reputable recruiters/head hunters. There are tons of them online or in your local Sunday newspapers.
-
Step 4
Update your resume. Now may be the time to refresh and revamp that old, outdated format, and to give it a new angle.
-
Step 5
Gather together those references. You'll need them soon enough, when you've landed that all important job interview, which may (knock on wood) be sooner than you think.
