Step 1
Start in the closet. If you haven't worn it in over a years, donate it. If it has holes or unsighlty stains, toss it. The point is, you shouldn't hold on to items that serve no purpse beyond taking up valuable space. Besides, think of all the new things you could buy to fill that extra space!

Step 2
Toss the cases. CDs and DVDs are great, we all have them and love them; but those plastic cases are unsighlty and take up way too much space. Purchase CD holders that zip closed- the bigger, the better.

Step 3
Toys, toys, toys. Whether you have kids, or a spoiled pet, chances are you have plenty of toys lying around. Any that are broken, you should toss. Any that are forgotten or ignored, give them away. Store the favorites in an easily accessible basket or box.

Step 4
Linens and things. Go through your linen closet and pull out the towels that are tattered, sheet sets that are older or no longer fit due to a mattress upgrade. These are great items to donate to your local homeless or women's shelters.
