Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • patience
  • observation skills
  1. Step 1

Learn how to recognize a discouraged man. Most men will react to discouragement with anger.

  2. Step 2

Talk to the man about the times when he most felt encouraged in his life. Maybe it was when he was a kid growing up or maybe it is at work.

  3. Step 3

Ask the man what is the best way for you to be an encouragement to him. Keep in mind that while he is discouraged is not the time to approach him on this subject.

  4. Step 4

Give the man room to deal with his discouragement. Most men do not want to hash out the pain with words so let him alone until he is ready to talk to you.

  5. Step 5

Communicate with the man in his own style. Keep the conversation short, to the point and free from surprises.
