Instructions

First idea is going electronic. If most of the guests you have in mind receive email, you can send them an "evite." See the link below for evite and go to the website to set up an account. There you are able to choose designs for any kind of invitation needed. It even keeps track of whom has seen your invite and on what day. The guests can reply with a yes, no, or maybe. It will also automatically resend invites to those whom have not responded once it gets closer to the party date.

Another idea is using blank post cards. This is another great way because you don't need as much postage as sending a regular invite. Go to your favorite craft or hobby store to purchase some rubber stamps with details for parties such a stamp with the Who, What, When, Where, and RSVP, which you can later fill in by hand. You can personalize your postcard with the theme of the party. This gives the guests ideas to what you or your child likes. Don't forget to add the age they will be for their birthday, a lot of relatives and friends don't always keep up and it saves them the embarrassment of having to ask.

If you have a printer, make some cards to print off of your computer using any card making software or websites that offer printable ecards. Again check the resource tab for websites.

Don't forget good ol' handwritten cards. The kids can get involved in this and create drawings of certain themes or interests they may have on the cover, while you write in all the details.

Tips & Warnings

  • See the resource tab for info on how to make sticker books for a fun craft at the party!

  • Be creative and have fun

  • Send out invites about 2 weeks before the event

  • Add an RSVP to your invites to keep track of guests attending

  • For those not sure, RSVP means "Répondez s'il vous plaît", a French phrase that translates to "please respond" and word for word translation is "respond if you please"

  • Keep track of your guest list to take in account how much refreshments are needed if you will be providing any.

  • Don't forget to send thank you cards after the party is over

  • Don't send invitations out too early or the guests may forget about your party.
