Fit Someone Properly for a Walker
Fit Someone Properly for a Walker

How do you know if a walker is the right height for the user? It is so simple to do and will make the user more comfortable using the walker.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Have the person using the walker stand up with his or her arm down at their side. Place the walker in front of the person. The hand grip of the walker should be level with their wrist.

  2. Step 2

Have the person sit back down. Turn the walker over and adjust the legs to the corrected height. To make a walker slide better over carpeted or tile surfaces cut a tennis ball with an "X" and push over the leg of the walker. The balls go on the back legs with walker that have wheels on the front.

  3. Step 3

Make sure and check the screws in the walker priodically as they can become loose over a period of time and may pose a risk for the user.
