Time has a way of interfering with what once were precious friendships. People move or go to different schools and contact is lost. Reconnecting with old classmates may sound intimidating. In reality it is actually very simple.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • internet
  1. Step 1
    www.facebook.com

First, decide if you want to reconnect with old classmates. It is important to know that these relationships will need some time, effort and nurturing to restore the connection. Many people think it will be fun, but struggle with resetting the relationship. Once you decide you would like to reconnect with old classmates there are several venues one can use.

  2. Step 2

To begin, identify if you still have any phone numbers or addresses. Depending on how much time has passed, it is a possibility that the numbers or addresses are still intact for the family (parents still live there). The yellow pages or phone book (hard copy or online) can assist with this search.

Next, use a social forum to seek old classmates and friends. Probably the most popular are Facebook and Myspace. Facebook allows a person to set there own profile with all information they would like to share. A person can then search for their lost classmates.

  4. Step 4
    www.reunion.com

There are other sites that can be helpful, including reunion.com and classmates.com.

  5. Step 5

Once you are able to locate your classmates, send a friend request with a note. The note is important. In the note identify yourself with maiden names, where you know the person from, even add a memory if possible. The note on the request helps the other person in recalling who you are.

  6. Step 6

It is also possible to see other classmates listed in your friends profile. Send a friend request to them as well.

  7. Step 7

Take the time to talk with your found friends. Send personal messages about information that should be kept confidential. Ask questions regarding the persons current status. Try to exchange photos if possible. This helps the person remember what you looked like then and now.

  8. Step 8

When you are comfortable, set up a time to meet. This can be done individually or in a group setting.

  9. Step 9

Most of all, after you are reconnected, have fun. Keep the relationship going so that it does not drift away again.
