Things You'll Need:
- Shoebox
- Baby food jars
- Maps
- Cookie ingredients
- Various papers-wallpaper, wrapping paper, contact paper
- Stationary Items
- Road maps
- Anything else the person likes....
-
Step 1
You don't need to purchase everything on the Things You Need list; those give you an idea of some things to have on hand or that we can use, depending on the gift.
-
Step 2
Here are some simple homemade gift ideas...Have fun!
Give a favorite recipe, written on a cute decorated (by you) card, and include two or three of the dry ingredients. For example, a recipe for oatmeal raisin cookies would include you wrapping up a package of raisins, nuts, and two cups of oatmeal in a plastic zip type bag.
Take baby food jars and use fabric paint to paint the jars and lids. Let dry. Three of these make a nice gift for storing such things as cotton balls, bath salts, and cotton swabs. These could be given by children, since they are so easy to make.
Cover a shoe box with wrapping paper, wallpaper, or contact paper. Use as a gift box and fill with stationary items such a a fancy pen, letter opener, colorful paper clips, calligraphy markers, memo pads, thank you notes, and fancy writing paper. -
Step 3
Cover a shoebox with road maps and fill with a first aid kit, a book on tape or music CD, a traveling coffee mug, a phone card, and any other items associated with traveling or the car.
Food items make great gifts also! Here are some food ideas: Popcorn balls, popcorn, banana or zucchini bread, caramel corn, pure maple syrup, fruits (apples, dates, pears), avocados, dried fruits, natural foods like granola mix, nuts like almonds, walnuts, hazel nuts, homemade jams, jellies, relishes, gourmet coffee and tea mixes. Use your imagination, put the foods you choose into a basket lined with shredded paper or Easter grass, wrap it all up in colored cellophane and tie the top closed with a big satin ribbon. Happy gift giving!
