How to Fundraise for a Nonprofit Organization
At some point in their lives almost everyone will benefit from the good work done by a Nonprofit organization. Nonprofits often accomplish a great deal without government or corporate funding; it is the hard work of every day people that keeps these organizations afloat. In addition to the time volunteers spend working toward an organization's mission, money that people donate goes to pay staff, materials and other operational expenses. There are many ways to fund raise for a nonprofit organization that range from simple to elaborate.

1
Set up a donation box at your workplace. Take charge of the box by keeping it secure and spearhead the effort to get coworkers to donate. Send out emails that describe the good work of the organization and emphasize that donations are anonymous, and that every little bit will help. Set a specified time period for donation so people will be more likely to donate as the deadline approaches.

2
Encourage your company to offer a payroll donation program. This would involve a voluntary, automatic deduction from an employee's paycheck that would be given to a specific charity. Employees may be able to benefit from a tax deduction from the donation and the regularity of the contributions could be a planning benefit to the charity. The company could also promote its dedication to charitable giving by using this program as an example.

Offer a product or service in return for a charitable donation. Bake cupcakes and sell them at your workplace, at your school or at a summer market. Advertise that the proceeds from the baked goods sale will go toward a specific charity. Organize a car wash on a weekend with a similar advertisement. Try to link your sale to the charity you're raising money for. For example, if you're giving the money to a local animal shelter, have a dog wash.

Organize a fundraising event that requires a paid ticket to attend. An evening dinner with entertainment, such as music or comedy, with profits going to the organization is one option. Combining a dinner with an auction of donated items is another option. Although ticketed events can require a great deal of planning and organization, they can be lucrative for the organization.
