Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Your Sony Playstation Portable
  • A mini B USB cable
  • A computer
  1. Step 1
    The Mini B USB cable

    First off, locate both your Sony PSP and your Mini B USB cable. The Mini B USB cable is necessary because it is the only PSP compatible USB cable.

  2. Step 2
    The USB port will usually have the USB symbol above or next to it.

    Insert the large end of the USB cable, also known as the "A" plug, into any of the several USB ports on your computer. Usually on desktop computers they are located on the hard drive, and on laptops, the side.

  3. Step 3
     

    Turn your Sony PSP on and scroll to the left-most menu, "Settings". Insert the Mini B end of the USB cable into the top of your PSP, then select "USB Connection" on the Settings menu of the PSP.

    After a few seconds your computer will prompt you to "Open Folder to View Files", which you should do.

  5. Step 5

    Of the three folders displayed, double-click on "PSP", then double-click on "Music". You are now done navigating through the PSP.

  6. Step 6

    On your computer, locate the music files you would like to transfer to your Sony PSP. The PSP will play MP3, MP4, WAV, UMD, and ATRAC3plus music files.

  7. Step 7

    Select the music files you would like to transfer to your PSP, right-click, select "Copy" from the menu displayed. Click back into your Sony PSP's "Music" folder, right-click and select "Paste".

    You are now done!

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to safely remove your Sony PSP by right-clicking on the "Safely Remove Hardware" image on the lower right hand of your desktop tab.
  • If you have file types that are not supported by the Sony PSP, try using a third party program to convert them into compatible file types.
  • You should, by no means, be ILLEGALLY downloading music or any other form of media. This is punishable by law.
