How to Get Free Gifts From Your Wedding Registry
When setting up your wedding registry, take a look at free gifts both the store and the product brands offer. Gifts come in two forms (1) free gifts just for registering, and (2) free gifts after a certain amount has been bought by guests from the registry.

Spend some time browsing the wedding registry websites of those stores you think you might like to register at. I registered at Macys. Bed Bath and Beyond, and Pottery Barn. Bed Bath and Beyond has a whole program devoted to free gifts for registering. Both Macys and Bed Bath and Beyond offer gifts after a certain number of certain brands and products have been purchased.

Once you pick your stores, register for items with the free gift offers in mind. Don't let it determine what you register for, but do keep it in the back of your mind. Make sure you register for enough to meet each offer's requirements. For example, a free wok set with $500 worth of Calphalon product purchased and a free 5" Santuko knife just for putting that much on your registry to start with.

After your wedding, if you plan on doing any shopping to complete your registry, take a good look at your registry lists before you go. Figure out which free gift offers you might like to try and complete. One big tip - if you want to register for you cookware, register for the set - even though it if $400+, it is a lot cheaper than putting it together piece by piece in open stock. No one may buy it off the registry, but you will certainly be given enough in cash and gift cards - then, you get to claim the free gift offers before and after too!

Make sure you read the rules of each program. Usually you have to fill out the forms to claim your free gifts at the store once you have met the registry requirements. And, so brands will simply send you free products out of the blue. I registered for a Waterford set of china, and Waterford sent me a set of placemats after my wedding even though much of my china had been purchased at all different stores. I emailed the company to find out why because I was worried that it was a gift without a person to thank, but it was Waterford!
