How to Keep Addresses Private While Sending Emails to Many in Windows Mail

How to Keep Addresses Private While Sending Emails to Many in Windows Mail thumbnail
Keep others from reading private email.

Before you send the same email to a bunch of people, ask yourself if you want every recipient to get your mailing. You might want to keep some of your friends' addresses private so they don't get upset at you sharing their email. Some people use email for only a select group of family and friends, so respect the privacy of your readers by hiding their email addresses.

Things You'll Need

  • Windows Mail or similar program.

Instructions

Use the BCC option. Most people use only the "To" box for addressing emails. But if you type more than one address in that box, everyone who gets the email can see the other addresses. Under the address windows "To" and "CC," you should see a window labeled "BCC" (blind carbon copy). No recipient can see what's in this box.

If you don't see a box labeled "BCC," click on "View" in the toolbar above and select "all headers" from the scroll-down list. This will open a window labeled "BCC," or "blind carbon copies."

Copy and paste all the email addresses you want into the "BCC" line. Then, no one will see the entire list.

I use the BCC feature quite often when I'm sending emails to more than one recipient. It's more private
