Make a Cactus Garden

Cactus are easy to grow and take very little work to upkeep. Follow these easy steps to making a unique, and colorful, cactus garden.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 10" - 12" Terra Cotta Pot
  • 5 small Cactus plants
  • Cactus soil mix
  • Paper towels
  • spoon
  • colored gravel
  1. Step 1
A pot this size would work well for a cactus garden.
A pot this size would work well for a cactus garden.

Place a thin layer of gravel in the bottom of the terra cotta pot. Don't select a pot that is too deep. Shallow pots work best. Add the soil on top of the gravel. (you'll want between 1/2" - 1" of soil)

  2. Step 2

Pick out the tallest cactus and remove it from it's original pot. Use paper towels to grab it, to protect your hands.

  3. Step 3

Dig your finger into the soil to make room for the plant. Put the cactus in the hole and press the soil around the bottom to keep it in place.

  4. Step 4

Make another hole beside the existing plant. Select the next tallest cactus and place it in the hole.

  5. Step 5

Continue planting until all the cacti are in the pot. Use the spoon to press down the soil all around the base of the plants.

  6. Step 6

Arrange the colored gravel to cover the soil. When you can no longer see any dirt, your cactus garden is done.
