Things You'll Need:
- Shoebox
- String
- Construction Paper
- Glue
- Markers, crayons, and colored pencils
- glitter
- Scissors or craft knife
- Leprechaun Bait (pennies)
- Candy gold coins and other treasure.
-
Step 1
Explain to your children the purpose of this activity. If they catch a leprechaun, they will get treasure. Leprechauns can be very difficult to catch, however, so you need to make a trap and use bait.
-
Step 2
Have children use the craft supplies to create their leprechaun traps. Encourage them to use their imaginations. The traps should have a way for the leprechaun to get in, and a place to set the bait. There can be a small maze, a string trap, or whatever else your kids can think up.
-
Step 3
Put the traps in a slightly out of the way place. Leprechauns won't come out where there is lots of activity. Your children's bedrooms, especially if they spend the day at school, are a great place. Put leprechaun bait (pennies) inside the trap. Leprechauns can't stand to see shiny pennies laying around, and they will come to gather them up while the kids are at school.
-
Step 4
While the kids are at school, remove the pennies and place some small shiny candies (gold coin chocolates work great) in their place. Small toys, shiny rocks, and other similar objects also make good surprises. Move a few things in the child's room around. Leprechaun's are notoriously mischievous.
-
Step 5
When the children get home, have them check their leprechaun traps.
