**Understand How to Monetize With Online Ads**
If you have a website or blog, you can earn money from your site with online ads ('Monetize it', as the web gurus put it. It's an ugly word, but I've grudgingly come to accept it.), You place advertisements on your web or blog pages, and get paid every time someone clicks on an ad (some ads also payout according to the number of views, but pay-per-click ads are much more common). Some ads are text, others are static images, and some are annoying little dancing people that move and have sound.
You can see ads almost anywhere you look on the internet, including right here at eHow. The most well-known provider of ads is the Google Adsense program. But there are other providers as well.

**Check Out Adbrite**
Adbrite is one of the better known alternatives to Adsense, and is considered to be a high-paying option, offering as much as 75% of the ad revenue generated (in other words, you keep 75% of the ad income, Adbrite gets the other 25%). They offer a wide variety of formats in both text and image ads.
Adbrite also offers what are known as 'inline' ads, an option not available through Adsense. These are the double-underline words in your page text. Mousing over the words causes a related ad to open up.

**Look Into Bidvertiser**
Bidvertiser is another option for placing ads on your website or blog. They have a reputation for unusually versatile tools to help users design the best format ads for their sites, and to incorporate ads in a way to maximize advertising earnings. I haven't used the Bidvertiser tools myself, but I hear they're pretty nifty.

**Explore Clicksor**
I hear lots of good reports from more and more of my colleagues regarding Clicksor. Apparently, the bidding is high (that is, the ads have a large payout), Clicksor pays a generous percentage to publishers (that would be you!), and there is a lot of versatility in how and where ads can be displayed. Clicksor also has a good reputation as far as doing an excellent job in placing context-relevant ads on your site.

Tips & Warnings
Remember: All context relevant ads take a while to optimize. If your ads don't look 'relevant' right away, they will after a day or so.

This is very well done, David. I just set up my profile yesterday and have written an article, but wanted to study the keyword concept before putting it up. After reading this, I get it, as well as understand monetizing (yeah,yuck) better.
