Step 1
If you want to get something material for you boyfriend/husband, think hard about things he may have mentioned that he'd like to have. If you remember something and know he doesn't have it yet, he'll be pleased to get it! If you've been with him for a long time, think about his hobbies, what he likes to do. Any gift pertaining to his hobby would probably please him.
-
Step 2
Don't go the gift card route for your long-time boyfriend or husband. A gift card is OK for work colleagues or even friends you don't get to spend a lot of time with, but not quite appropriate for the love of your life. A gift card will make it seem as if you have no idea what to get him, and you don't want the love of your life thinking you don't know his taste.
-
Step 3
Getting a gift for someone you've only been dating a short while for Valentine's Day can be a bit of a challenge. It's likely that you don't want something that screams "I love you" like a very expensive gift, or a sappy card, but rather something that just says "I like you". For a man you've just started seeing, get him something simple and not too expensive like a CD or DVD, or possibly a shirt you think would look great on him. If you don't have much money, bake him a plate of brownies or cookies.
-
Step 4
Sometimes homemade gifts mean the most. For the love of your life, create a mixed CD with songs meaningful to the two of you, or make a scrapbook with photos detailing the time you've had together. If you're not very crafty, websites like snapfish.com and shutterfly.com offer gorgeous photo books that you can design yourself for a reasonable price. The finished product is very nice.
-
Step 5
Remember that it really is the thought that counts. Even the simplest of gestures on Valentine's Day will show him that you care.
