How do you feed your family with layoffs, high prices and no time. You can do it! Just try these 7 meal ideas to feed your family for $30 this week!
Things You'll Need
- 2 pound of hamburger $6
- 2 bone in chicken thighs $3
- 1 roast $4
- 1 ham small or ham steak $3
- 1 can chili starter $1
- 1 pack of buns $1
- 1 bag of potatoes $3
- 2 carrots $1
- 1 Onion .50
- 1 Can Spagetti Sauce $1 hunts or generic
- 1 loaf of bread $1
- 1 bag or box plain chips $1
- 1 Chicken bouillon or can of chicken broth $1
- 1 box augratin potatoes $2
- 1 can diced tomatoes $1
Use the chili stater (made by Bush's beans), tomatoes and the hamburger to create quick and tasty chili. You can add some of the onions if you want for taste. Follow the instructions on the can.
Roast. Through the roast in a crock pot with the some potatoes, carrots, more onion, and cook all day with a little water. Your whole meals is done when you get home from work. If you want you can add flour to the water that the roast cooked in to get a quick gravy. Save the leftover beef for another meal - see below
Make loose roast beef sandwich with leftover roast. You can top with BBQ sauce if you have it. Serve with chips.
Chicken noodle soup. Boil the chicken thighs for 1.5 hours. Remove them add veggies left from the roast and egg or spaghetti noodle. Debone the chicken and add it to the soup. This will make a big batch of soup.
Spaghetti night - make spaghetti with hamburger and sauce or save even more money and use ground pork. Serve with bread or mix garlic powder with butter to make your own garlic bread plain or toasted.
Reheat leftover soup for another night of hearty soup and a quick meal.
Last meal cook ham or ham steak. Cut up and cook with the augratin potatoes. Great quick meal and all this for $30 a week.
