How to Use Herbal Tea to Fall Asleep

Herbal teas have traditionally been used to fall asleep. Two herbal teas commonly used to induce sleep are Valerian and Chamomile.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    To make herbal tea put 1 teaspoon of an herb in a brewing basket or strainer. Pour a cup of boiling water over the herb and allow it to stand for 10 or more minutes. Remove the herb and enjoy the herbal tea.

  2. Step 2

    Chamomile is derived from a flowering perennial plant. It is often used to make herbal tea for treating stomach sickness, irritability and as a mild sedative. It is a main ingredient in Celestial Seasonings "Sleepytime" tea for good reason.

  3. Step 3

    Valerian also comes from a flowering perennial plant. is a natural herbal sedative sold in most health food stores. It is also commonly used in treating anxiety and as a muscle relaxer.

  4. Step 4

    Do not use black tea for the purpose of falling asleep faster. Black tea contains more caffeine and can interfere with your ability to sleep.
