How to make a delicious pulled pork that is relatively easy and inexpensive

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4-6 lb. pork shoulder/butt
  • 2 red onions
  • pork rub (McCormick works well)
  • 1 bottle bbq sauce
  • 2 cups water/apple cider vinegar
  1. Step 1

Make sure pork cut has no skin on it and is capable of fitting into pot. Generously cover entire cut of pork with rub. Set aside.

  2. Step 2

Slice Onions into thin half circle pieces. Place half on bottom of crock pot.

  3. Step 3

Place pork rub covered pork into crock pot on top of onions. Place remaining onions one top of pork.

  4. Step 4

Add water or apple cider vinegar (apple cider vinegar with yield a more Carolina style pork, do according to personal taste) until about 3/4 of pork is covered in liquid. Set crock pot to low and cook 2 hrs/lb.

  5. Step 5

Once pork has gone through full cooking time separation of pork and onions from remaining liquid and fat needs to occur. Empty entire contents of crock pot into a large strainer (can do this is smaller steps also using tongs or slotted spoons). Once all liquid is removed return pork and onions to crock pot. Throw away any bones from pork cut.

  6. Step 6

Add bbq sauce (amount according to taste) to crockpot and set to warm. Pork is ready to be eaten almost immediately but can also stay on warm setting for hours. Eat by itself or on bun with additional bbq sauce

Tips & Warnings
  • Steps 1 to 3 can be done in advance (like the night before). Contents can be refrigerated prior to the addition of liquid and cooking. This can save time if pork is being made on a game day.
  • I'LL BE ADDING PICTURES OF ALL THE STEPS SHORTLY
