Make a camp omelet

A camp omelet is a omelet made with no utensils and eaten with a fork/spoon. This breakfast is easy to make, clean, and makes for a great group activity when camping or on a family reunion. Cleanup is a snap as you only dirty a spoon and the bag used to cook in is discarded.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Precooked meat (ham, sausage, etc.)
  • Vegetables (green peppers, onion, mushrooms, etc., etc.)
  • Shredded cheese
  • Freezer bags (sandwich size)
  • Large stock pot
  1. Step 1

First off, take the vegetables and precooked meat and cut into 1/2 to 1 inch pieces, be sure to keep each food item separate, this can be done by placing inside of gallon size bags (either freezer or storage, this doesn't matter).

  2. Step 2

Take the Freezer bag (must be freezer bag as storage bags will melt as they cannot withstand the heat) and put 1 to 3 eggs inside of it (depending on size of omelet preferred. Mead the bag to "scramble" the egg(s). Fill large stock pot with water and bring to boil (this will take some time and must be at boiling before bags can be placed inside).

  3. Step 3

Next, add vegetables, meat or any other items you prefer inside of your omelet. be sure to not overload your omelet, as this will prevent even cooking.

  4. Step 4

Add a dash of milk to keep omelet moist. mead to evenly disperse the milk.

  5. Step 5

Close bag and try to get out as much air as possible. The air will act as an insulator and prevent the egg from fully cooking.

  6. Step 6

Place bag inside of large stock pot, use tongs to move bags around. Check bags by taking out and squeezing with tongs, when firm omelet is done. Enjoy.
