How to Cook the perfect crock pot Roast
Crock-Pot cooking is one of the easiest ways to cook, and it can create moist, succulent meals. Throw a few ingredients in the Crock-Pot in the morning before work and turn it on low. Supper will be waiting for you when you come home in the afternoon. Roast is a perfect dish to make in the Crock-Pot. It only takes a few simple ingredients to make the perfect roast that will fall apart after it's cooked or braised for six to eight hours in the Crock-Pot.

- Crock-Pot
- Skillet
- 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 3-lb. roast
- 4 large potatoes, each cut into 12 equal pieces
- 1 large onion, quartered
- 1/2 to 1 small bag of baby carrots
- meat tenderizer
- Salt
- Pepper
- 1 - 16 oz. can of beef broth

Heat oil in skillet over medium heat. Add the pot roast to skillet and brown each side to a light golden brown. Browning the pot roast adds an additional layer of flavor and also improves the texture and taste of the pot roast.

Wash and cut the potatoes into 12 equal sized pieces. Equal sized pieces will cook evenly. A good method to get 12 pieces equal in size is to slice the potato in half. Cut the halves in half and then slice each half into thirds.

Peel the onion and cut into quarters. It is not necessary to separate the onion slices.

Spray the inside of the Crock-Pot with a vegetable spray. Add the roast to the crock pot. Sprinkle meat tenderizer over the roast creating a light layer. Place potatoes, carrots and onion on top of the roast. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

Pour one can of beef broth over the contents of the Crock-Pot. Place the lid on and turn the Crock-Pot on low and let it cook for six to eight hours. After it has cooked, carefully remove the roast and place it on a serving dish.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure to purchase a roast that is not too big for the Crock-Pot. Trim excess fat to make the roast fit inside.
Items placed on the bottom will cook faster than items place near the top of the crock.
Taste the pot roast when finished. Add more salt and pepper if needed.
The potatoes and carrots tend to turn mushy if placed on the bottom of the crock.
