Where to Find Cheap Nikes

Where can you find cheap sneaks when you need them? On occasion you'll run across a good deal at a sports retailer, but the markup is generally high. And forget buying direct from Nike online. Stingy shoe shoppers, don't despair--there are plenty of places to save.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit a Nike Factory Store. As of February 2009, there were 23 outlet locations operating in the United States, and even more internationally. Check the additional resources below for a list of locations. Click on a location's links to learn about store hours and get seasonal coupons. Many factory stores have employee pricing for a few weeks out of the year, and discounts are plentiful on new athletic gear.

  2. Step 2

Check out online athletic retailers for deep discounts. While many only offer limited quantities or sizes, auction sites like eBay.com will offer better deals than a full-price Nike store. When searching for cheap Nikes on eBay, you can limit your search options for items on sale, as well as items located locally to save on shipping.

  3. Step 3

Search locally for new and used pairs. This leaves you with the smallest selection in terms of size and preference, but you would be surprised at what you can find secondhand. And, prices can usually be negotiated. A simple Craigslist search for Nike shoes in New York City, for example, turned up almost 100 local listings in one day alone. A few days of browsing will likely result in an excellent find at a better than average price.

Second-hand Nikes often turn up at thrift stores small and large, which is another great place for bargain hunting. While some stores might be reluctant to do so, you can ask staff to tip you off when a new pair shows up.
