How to Convert an Image to a Graphic Symbol in Adobe Flash CS4

Reuse graphic symbols easily.

Graphic symbols save a designer a lot time and memory by eliminating redundant images added to the same document. With a graphic symbol, you simply add the image as often as you would like to a document and the program refers to the original symbol. You can easily convert an image into a graphic symbol even after the image was previously added to the document as a regular graphic.

Instructions

1. Select the image that you want to use as a graphic symbol.

2. Click on the "Modify" menu and select "Convert to Symbol."

3. Enter a name for the symbol in the "Name" box.

4. Click on the "Type" drop-down menu. Select "Graphic" and press "OK."
