Things You'll Need:
- Crochet thread Basket Variety of silk flowers Small stuffed animal Ribbon Ruffled lace 12-inch balloon Fabric stiffener Sponge paintbrush Hot glue gun Clothespin Clothes hanger Scissors Permanent marker Straight pins
-
Step 1
Inflate the balloon. Stand the balloon in your basket to check for fit. You will want space around the outside of your balloon. Adjust the balloon size and tie a knot.
-
Step 2
Tie the end of the crochet thread string to the balloon knot. Begin wrapping the balloon in all directions. This will seem awkward at first, but once you have wrapped the first few rounds, the string will stay in place. There is no set amount of string to use on your balloon. Keep wrapping until you have a good coverage with small areas of holes. Cut the end of the string and tuck it under the wrap.
-
Step 3
Saturate the string with the fabric stiffener. Hold the balloon by the knot and use a sponge paintbrush to paint the strings on the balloon with the fabric stiffener. You want thick and complete coverage. Do not worry if it gets in the holes. Hang the balloon from a clothes hanger. Use the clothespin to clip the balloon knot. Allow the fabric stiffener to dry overnight.
-
Step 4
Make sure the strings are completely dry. Pop the balloon with the end of a straight pin. Poke out any extra stiffener between the holes. You now have a string Easter egg.
-
Step 5
Sketch a large oval on one side of the string Easter egg for an opening. Cut the opening out using the scissors. Apply hot glue to the opening edge and attach gathered lace. Make a bow with the ribbon and hot glue it over the opening.
-
Step 6
Apply hot glue to the bottom of the basket and stand the string Easter egg inside. Glue a small stuffed animal inside the egg.
-
Step 7
Remove stems and leaves from the silk flower heads. Hot glue the silk flower heads in the egg around the bunny and in the basket around the egg. Completely cover the bottom of the egg and basket.
