How Do I Become a Title 1 Teacher?
Title 1 teachers provide extra help for students who are working below grade level in math or reading. It is a government program that has strict guidelines, and each year a Title 1 school has to be audited to make sure they are using TItle 1 money correctly. Title 1 teachers keep track of students' records and the program records for the auditor as well as teach students remedial reading and math.

2
Check with the Department of Education in your state to see what the requirements are for a Title 1 teacher. Many states require you to take a certain number of classes in diagnosing reading or math problems, or you may have to take some classes on special education.

Send in your transcripts to the Department of Education to see what classes you still need to take. In most states, you will receive a worksheet that shows you what classes you have already taken that meet requirements for a Title 1 teaching certificate and what requirements you have not met. When you enroll in college classes or apply for a graduate program and talk with an advisor, bring the worksheet with you. They can help you choose classes that meet the state requirements.
