How to Make a Balloon Arch With Wire
Balloons are a traditional element of a lot of parties and celebrations. However they can be used for more than simple single balloons on strings. Balloons can be formed into an arch when linked together with wire, it's simple and easy. Draw out your design ideas on paper. Figure out how many balloons wide each section will be so that you can estimate the total number of balloons you will need as well as the color scheme. Make the sketch as detailed as possible as it will help you construct the arch later.

Use the helium tank to blow up all your balloons. Tie each balloon in a knot at the end after filling with helium. Cut a piece of ribbon about 6 inches long and tie one end to the end of the balloon. Loop the other end around a stationary object like a chair to keep the balloon from floating up to the ceiling. Repeat with all the balloons.

Take your wire and cut the segments you will need for the arch. Piece them together by twisting the ends together. Tear off a small piece of masking tape and wrap it on the end of each wire to cover the pointed ends.

Start in the middle of the arch and attach the balloons one by one by taking the short ribbon end and wrapping it around the wire then tying it in a double knot. Repeat the next balloon directly beside it. If you arch requires balloons of different levels to create a higher and multi-leveled effect then simply tie the higher balloons with a knot and don't twist the ribbon around the wire first. Repeat with all of the balloons until the wiring is completely covered.

Hang or post your arch. Step back at a distance and see how it looks. If you notice some sections that are light on balloons go ahead and fill them in.
