Paper flower crafts have expanded a great deal since shaped paper punch tools have come on the market. There is a garden full of flowers you can make with paper punch tools, and specific punches are shaped for a single flower. You can find these single floral punches in the shape of tulips and poinsettias, for example. There are also punches that have several parts of a flower in one punch, and the parts get punched and then assembled. A savvy paper artist can use various shapes to make many kinds of flowers.

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper punch tools in petal, snowflake, teardrop and other shapes Paper adhesive Tweezers

    One Dimensional Flowers

  1. Step 1

Select and purchase a one-piece flower paper punch.

  2. Step 2

Punch flowers using the flower-shaped punch and colored scrapbook paper, construction paper or cardstock. For example, a tulip punch can be punched in orange, red or yellow paper.

  3. Step 3

Cut the leaves and stem from the paper flower.

  4. Step 4

Punch the complete flower shape from a shade of green paper.

  5. Step 5

Put a dot of paper adhesive on the back of the previously punched and cut flower blossom.

  6. Step 6

Pick up the blossom with tweezers and place it onto the green flower. The colored flower is now glued to the green punched paper flower and stem. Only the stem and leaf will show up in the green color.

  7. Step 7

Punch out flat shapes such as hearts and teardrops in flower colored paper. Place five or six shapes in a circle. Punch one regular round shape from a standard paper punch. Punch out several green leaves.

  8. Step 8

Glue the round shape in the center of the hearts or teardrops for a simple flat flower. Glue a leaf under a petal edge.

  9. Two Dimensional Flowers

  10. Step 1

Punch out snowflakes, star bursts and floral petals in colors of natural flowers.

  11. Step 2

Punch out leafs or teardrop shapes in green for leaves.

  12. Step 3

Experiment by placing one shape on top of another until it has the appearance of a multi-petaled flower. Try layering other punched shapes for multi-petaled flowers.

  13. Step 4

Dot adhesive on the center back of one shape.

  14. Step 5

Place the glued paper punch on top of the other shape with tweezers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use waxed paper on your work surface. This keeps adhesive off of your table or desk. You can poke a tiny hole in the center of 2-dimensional flowers and insert a colored brad for a decorative center.
  • Do not move completed flowers until they are thoroughly dry to keep them from coming apart.
