When it comes to planning a wedding, planning the decorations for the ceremony and reception is often one of the top items on your list of things to do. If you plan on using candlesticks on your wedding day, consider enhancing them as another element of your themed décor. There are a number of different things you can do to decorate your candlesticks to create a unique look for your special day.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Candlesticks
  • Ribbon
  • Paint
  • Flowers
  • Votive candles
  • Tea lights
  1. Step 1

Engrave your candlesticks. If you want to add a very special touch to your sterling silver candlesticks have them engraved with the initials of the bride and groom and the wedding date. Stores such as Things Remembered specialize in engraving items for weddings and other occasions and will allow you to choose any font that you want. If you engrave the candlesticks, you may want to give them out as wedding favors or as centerpiece giveaways.

  2. Step 2

Use ribbon to decorate your candlesticks. Choose a white colored ribbon, or the color of the bridesmaid dresses for your candlesticks. Take two strands of ribbon, and hot glue on end of each to the bottom of the candlestick. Wrap the ribbons around the candlestick in opposite directions so that they crisscross up to the top. Tie the ribbons into a big fancy bow at the top of the candlestick. You could also tie a big fancy ribbon bow without doing a crisscross pattern on the stick.

  3. Step 3

Paint your candlestick to reflect the wedding colors. Use and acrylic paint to add simple polka dots or stripes or little flowers in either white or another accent color used in the wedding décor. You may even choose to paint each candle stick with a different design for a unique, causal look. Also consider painting the bride and grooms initials onto the candlestick if you have a steady hand or want a professional to do it.

  4. Step 4

Decorate your candlesticks with flowers used in the bridal party bouquets or to accent the pews. Use a ring of flowers to decorate the bottom of your candlestick or depending on the size of your candlestick, use ribbon and tie a pretty decorative bow to secure flowers to it.

  5. Step 5

Use simple white candles on your candle sticks to attract more attention to the candlestick than the candle. Light the candles so that they flicker and catch peoples' eyes. Surround your candlesticks with lit tea lights or votive candles to bring further attention to their beautiful design.
