How to Wash Hunting Clothes
After an ambitious hunting expedition, the hunter is often left with a pile of clothes that are as smelly as they are dirty. A hunter not only hides in the woods in dirty places in the clothes, but he often also uses the same clothes to skin the game he bags. So hunting clothes are often filled with blood, sweat, mud, grime and the scents of wild game and wooded areas. Washing hunting clothes is often just as big of an ordeal as hunting the game itself.

1
Place the dirty hunting clothes in a washing machine and let the machine fill up with water so the clothes can soak.
-
2
Add an ample amount of unscented laundry detergent that does not contain brighteners. This detergent is typically found in a sporting goods store, if you are having difficulty finding it on your typical shopping trip. Let the washing machine run its full cycle. You want to use unscented detergents because wild game often can pick up any human scents.

3
Line dry the hunting clothes outside for a day or so. Make sure the clothes are fully dried.
-
4
Place the hunting clothes in a sealable bag with a natural fresh scent like natural pine cones. This will help to work on the odor that still remains from the hunting trip. Seal the bag shut. Leave the bag alone for a couple of days and let the pine cones work on the scent.
-
5
Take the hunting clothes out of the bag and put them in a second clean, sealable bag. This time don't add in any kind of scent to the bag. Seal the bag, and let the clothes sit for the next hunting trip.
