Treat Acne in a Spa Salon

There are many spa salons that specialize in treating skin conditions such as acne, hyperpigmentation and aging skin. Facials, chemical peels and microdermabrasion treatments are just some of the ways to treat acne in a spa salon. Regular visits to a spa salon can result in younger-looking, clearer skin over time. It can also help keep mild to moderate acne under control.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose a spa salon that specializes in treating acne. Make sure the salon employs certified estheticians who have years of experience working with people who have acne.

  2. Step 2

Get a facial. Spa salons offer a variety of facial treatments that are meant to improve skin clarity. Ask for a facial specifically formulated to treat acne prone skin. The treatment may include a pore-cleaning mask followed by an exfoliating scrub.

  3. Step 3

Get a microdermabrasion treatment. Estheticians employ crystals to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells, reducing large pores, removing dirt and oil from pores and revitalizing dull skin. This cleaning out of the skin pores results in healthier looking skin less prone to acne and blemishes.

  4. Step 4

Get a facial peel. This is when the esthetician uses alpha-hydroxy acids that remove dead skin cells, revealing layers of new skin that are more even toned and less likely to become covered with acne.

  5. Step 5

Have your blackheads extracted. If you have many blackheads and other types of non-inflammatory acne, the esthetician can manually remove these comedones to refine pores. The removal of the comedones also lowers the incidence of inflammatory lesions.

Tips & Warnings
  • Stay out of the sun following any of these spa salon treatments and remember to wear sunblock when going out.
  • Beware of side effects and allergic reactions that may occur from the chemicals used in some facials. Don't get acne treatment in a spa salon if you have moderate to severe acne as salon treatments can aggravate your acne. Consult a dermatologist for treatment.
