Silk flower wreaths add color and style to any home, making it possible to enjoy the beauty of flowers in any season. Depending on the flowers chosen, wreaths can make a bold statement with bright colors or add romance with delicate roses and baby's breath. Showing off your personal favorites is easy when you make your own wreath. Although they may look complicated, you can make a silk floral wreath in as little as an hour.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Silk flowers (assorted)
  • Straw wreath
  • Hot glue gun/glue sticks
  • Scissors/wire cutters
  • Ribbon/lace
  • Embellishments
  1. Step 1

Visit a craft store and browse the many colors and shapes of silk flowers available. Decide on a color scheme and choose several flowers within that color range. Try deep rich hues paired with lighter shades for a dramatic effect, or select pastels for a more subtle wreath.

  2. Step 2

Select flowers that appeal to you. The number of flowers you will need depends on the size and fullness of the completed wreath. Several bunches of flowers in a variety of styles, colors and sizes will provide ample flowers to complete a wreath.

  3. Step 3

Use an old pair of scissors or wire cutters to trim the stems just below the flower. Clip individual leaves from the stems and set aside. Group flowers and leaves by color or type.

  4. Step 4

Place the straw wreath on the table in front of you. Begin with one color or type of flower and glue the flowers to the straw wreath base at even intervals. A dab of hot glue is all that is needed to secure individual flowers to the base.

  5. Step 5

Begin adding other flowers to the wreath in the arrangement you prefer. Continue to work covering the entire wreath with flowers. Add leaves by dabbing glue to the base of the leaf and tucking it between flowers.

  6. Step 6

Add a decorative ribbon or lace bow by gluing in place with a dab of hot glue. Attach a small loop of ribbon or wire to the back of the wreath with hot glue for a hanger. Display by hanging.
